Cover Reveal – Angel’s Feather by Alina Popescu
I'm so happy to present......Angel's Feather by Alina Popescu. I have been waiting for this one for so long and it's finally here!! Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!
Writer, traveler, and coffee addict, Alina
Popescu has been in love with books all her life. She started writing
when she was ten and she has always been drawn to sci-fi, fantasy,
and the supernatural realm. Born and raised in Romania, she finds her
inspiration in books of all genres, in movies, and the occasional
manga comic book. She is a proud geek who needs her fast Internet and
gadgets more than she needs air.
The gay science
fiction novella Angel’s Feather is the first book in the
Flyer Chronicles series.
Synopsis
How
far would you go for the one you love? How much of yourself would you
sacrifice?
Trapped on
a decaying Earth and cut off from the rest of the Universe, humans
are no longer allowed to leave their planet. Break this one law and
you die: a penalty enforced by flyers, aliens who look like angels of
long-lost religions. Michael, the flyers’ leader, is the Punisher
who carries out every public execution.
Adam, a
young human with near-perfect memory, is committed to rebuilding
Earth and a true believer in the flyers’ dominion. While Adam’s
support for flyers isn’t a secret, his deep love for Michael is.
Not even Michael knows, for his kind never take human lovers, and to
Adam, they are too far above him to reach.
In his
broken and unwelcoming world, Adam’s love can only lead to pain,
loss, and disaster. Yet there is no force in the huge expanse of
stars and galaxies that can stop Adam from following Michael to the
end of existence. Not even Adam’s own beliefs.

Excerpt
“FLYERS!” THE FRIGHTENED voice pierced the air and shot straight to my heart, gripping and squeezing it tightly. My breath hitched and I dropped the tool I was holding.
What we
used to know as angels became Earth’s wardens. Flyers, as they call
themselves, are the universe’s enforcers. They make sure we stay in
our jail and that we obey the rules. We can build anything, do
anything, destroy anything, as long as it is not an attempt to build
new spaceships or weapons that could damage the spherical force field
prison that keeps us locked in here.
“Damn it
all to hell.” The wrench was lodged between the rusty parts of the
old tractor I was trying to repair. Our village’s hope for better
crops, it was, and I’d just gotten something stuck in it. Served me
right for thinking all it took to become a mechanic was an eidetic
memory. I had no other choice though. Most engineers and mechanics
were either hiding, always on the run, or dead. Why they all insisted
on building spaceships and trying to leave Earth was beyond me. We
had other pressing needs, exploring the universe should have been our
last concern.
“Hurry
up, kid. It’s the Punisher.” My uncle gripped my shoulder and
tried to make me move. He needn’t worry, I’d never miss a chance
to see Michael.
Michael,
the archangel of long lost tales of divinity, is the leader of the
squad of flyers that guards us. They have set up camp on Saturn and
use their all-seeing eyes to monitor our every move. Everyone hates
the flyers, more so Michael. Most don’t even remember his name,
he’s just referred to as the Punisher. Whenever someone does
something against the rules enforced upon us, Michael and his angel
guards come down to Earth and exert punishment. It’s always very
public, broadcast to the furthest corners still inhabited. He comes,
he crushes, he leaves. Each time, people add to their hate for
him.

Blog Tour and review: Touches by Alina Popescu
Touches
is a collection of four contemporary gay romance short stories
following the same cast of characters. They can be read in any order,
but to better immerse yourself in the characters’ lives, reading
them in order is advised.
Synopsis
Sometimes a
single touch is enough to change everything. Physical or emotional, a
touch can tilt the world on its axis and shift your entire life. It
can lead to hell, or it can lead to paradise, but things will never
be the same…
A TOUCH OF GLAMOUR
Tudor has big plans
for New York City.
Ditch his homophobic
colleague. See a musical. Definitely check out the go-go boys.
Meeting one Phantom
on Grindr wasn’t in the script.
Tudor gets caught up
in a whirlwind when his favorite musical character steps off the
stage and into his life.
A TOUCH OF
PARADISE
Hauled to work in
Hawaii, Tudor has little time to enjoy the island paradise.
His obnoxious friend
Radu has it much easier, using his free time to set Tudor up,
dangling a willing Hawaiian beauty in front of him.
Having been burned
by long-distance relationships before, Tudor stubbornly resists
Kahoni’s advances.
But can Tudor be
worn down enough to enjoy a touch of paradise?
A TOUCH OF
KINK
A moody and angry
Tudor follows his friend, Radu, to the airport to pick up a
client.
Despite Radu’s
efforts, he’s still sulking over his boyfriend, Kahoni, not being
able to fly over for his birthday.
But the airport only
opens up the door to a stream of steamy surprises for Tudor. Will his
mood improve?
A TOUCH OF
GAY
Radu has always
joked with Tudor about his friend’s gay rubbing off on him. Neither
of them has taken that joke seriously until Radu’s meltdown and
crazy confession: Radu thinks he might be gay.
Despite Radu’s
insistence that Tudor’s gayness has helped him figure out his own,
there’s more to that story of discovery. Charismatic, sexy, and all
around amazing Marius, the man Radu has been crushing on for months,
pushed the loud-mouth, offensive Radu into exploring who he truly
is.
Figuring out he
wasn’t all that straight is the easy part. Getting enough courage
to talk to Marius, that’s a whole different challenge, as Radu
seems to turn into a stuttering idiot around Marius. Will Radu learn
to be confident enough to pursue Marius? Or will Marius act faster
and challenge the confused Radu too soon?
Review: 5
stars
Touches is a
collection of 4 quick, easy short stories centered around the
friendship between Tudor and Radu. The first story, A Touch of
Glamour, is a bit heavier than the rest of them, and marks the
beginning of the friendship between them. While the collection
revolves around Tudor, Radu is the real star. He starts off as a jerk
and a homophobe, but he grows into a true friend. By the third story,
I got to love him, and on the forth..let’s just say, this is my
favorite story of them all.
Touches is a
sweet collection that made me long for a vacation with sandy beaches,
blue water and Mai-tais. Perfect read for the incoming summer.

Review:
I loved the premise
of this book: separating the man from the wolf, Jie and Shao. In
fact, this is the first story where I see the two of them separated
for real. The process of how this happened remains a bit of a
mystery, to me anyway, as the reason presented pushes the boundary of
the suspension of disbelief to the breaking point.
The characters
seemed bi-dimensional in an almost ideal world. The conflict seemed
forced, especially in the case of the Russian werewolves. While I do
understand the need of a conflict, the story arc of the Russians is
unnecessary and completely unrelated to the story. I have absolutely
no idea why Ivan is being introduced to begin with (unless he will be
a main character in a future book, but even so, his presence here is
filler).
What I found really
disappointing was the insta-love relationship between Meg and Jie, or
Meg and Shao, which was not explained in any way, not even as an
werewolf thing. The relationship between them is sweet, the dialogues
perfectly suited to the ideal world of the manga setting Sedonia has
created.
It is obvious that
Sedonia has done her research in the aspects of the different
cultures depicted, so points for that. I liked the map reading
elements inserted. The writing is fluent and easy to follow.
If you’re looking
a sweet, easy romance, than this is for you.
Excerpt
Only then did she become aware again of their surroundings. The motors hummed and vibrated through the small space, reminding her they were in the plane lavatory. She couldn’t help smiling to herself. Before Jie, something this wonderful, this erotic would never have happened to her.
Finally,
when they were rested, they maneuvered in the tiny space, worked
around each other to do up their clothing. Once dressed, Jie took her
in his arms again and nuzzled her hair. “Now,” he said softly,
“we should both try to get some sleep.” His hand slipped into her
hair, cradling her head. “As soon as we get to the hotel and settle
in, I have to contact Su Lin.”
Meg
sighed. “I know.” She wished she could just enjoy the languorous
aftermath of their lovemaking without the specter of meeting Jie’s
ex-wife hovering. She was tempted to ask Jie to just let it go, not
to bother defending himself. But she knew how guilty he felt and how
important it was that he was cleared of Su Lin’s accusation.
She
let her thoughts wander to the stranger whom Su Lin thought was Jie.
A strange tingle shimmered down her spine. Who was this man who
looked so much like Jie that Su Lin thought he was her ex-husband? As
a woman, she felt she would know Jie anywhere, even if he’d changed
physically and she hadn’t seen him in a long time. She had taken
Jie into her body and heart. He was imprinted on her very soul, as no
doubt, he was on Su Lin’s. That thought made jealousy simmer deep
in her gut, relieved only by Jie’s tender adoration.
Jealousy
aside, the truth remained. There was something strange going
on—though it couldn’t possibly be more bizarre than the fact that
the man she loved changed from a man into a wolf-like beast at every
full moon. They would obviously have to see this mysterious stranger
and Jie would need to identify him while they were in Beijing in
order to prove to Su Lin and to the authorities that he had been in
the United States at the time of the stranger’s arrest.
“What
are you thinking, Meg?” Jie’s gentle tenor cut through her
musings.
She
looked at him. Guilt snaked through her for all her private thoughts.
She searched her heart for the words she really wanted to say. Now
was no time to express fear and jealousy. “I was thinking how much
I want everything to work out.”
He
rested his hands on her shoulders and nodded. “Me too,” he
murmured.
Jie
left the lavatory first and she followed him after washing her face
and smoothing and repinning her mussed hair. Then she went out and
took her seat next to Jie, trying to get some rest with her hand
laced in his.

Release Day Blitz and Review – You Had Me at Hero by Michael P. Thomas
Title:
You Had Me at Hero
Author:
Michael P. Thomas
Genre:
Gay Romance, Contemporary, Interracial
Length:
Novella
Publisher:
JMS Books
Synopsis
When
seventeen-year-old Mark Potts fell from a balcony, he lost both the
use of his legs and any faith in heroes. Now twenty-nine, he’s
long-since come to terms with his injury. His job provides more
opportunities for eye-rolling than for riding to anybody’s rescue,
but with two kids to bring up, he barely has time for his husband,
much less for heroics. Besides, Starr Bradford is a policeman — how
many heroes does one family need?
Mark and
Starr love each other madly, but stress management is a load-bearing
pillar of their happiness. When Mark’s coping skills fail him at
exactly the wrong moment, he’s left hanging by a thread of words he
should’ve kept in his mouth. He has the power to repair their
relationship, but when Starr’s workday suddenly goes south, will he
get to wield it? Keeping it together long enough to find out is a job
worthy of any superhero!
Review: 3.5
stars
A very sweet
novella, told from Mark’s POV. I would have love to get a better
insight into his husband, Starr, though the story is entertaining
without it too. The chemistry between them is obvious throughout the
book. While there isn’t much in the terms of plot, I loved the
insights into the dispatch work and the mixed race marriages’
problems. I hope to see more of Mark and Starr in the future.

Excerpt
The 911 call center was tucked into a park in the middle of town. Mark and Starr lived in a neighborhood of post-World War II brick ranch houses east of the park, barely a five-minute drive at three in the morning. Even after being corralled by Coretta, Mark was out of his clothes, out of his chair, and into the bed by three-thirty, with his arms around his husband at three-thirty and about two seconds. Geeze but it felt good to cuddle up next to Starr. Any trace of a world that might exist outside their bed fizzled away as soon as they were in it together. Even if he tried, which he had long given up doing, he couldn’t focus on a worry, couldn’t retain the residue from even the most stressful call. With Starr in his arms, there was no room left for fear, no way to also hold on to doubt. With Starr in a patrol car and two sons careening through life in America while being black, these things were easy enough to find during the day, but in the quiet dark, Starr’s body throwing heat like rocks in a sauna, Mark’s defenses—which Starr assured him were more finely tuned than most people’s—melted away.
When Starr
rolled over with the whoosh of a contented sigh
to take Mark in his own arms, Mark knew he was safe. He knew he was
loved. And when his hand followed a hunch along the ridge of Starr’s
muscled belly, he knew he was desired. He took a great handful of
Starr’s warm, heavy balls and watched a sleepy grin spread across
his face.
“Marky?”
This
mumbled verification always made Mark laugh. As opposed
to…? “No. It’s a jewel thief,”
he said, gathering Starr’s balls and giving his sac a tug. “I
just struck it rich.”
The grin
grew and Starr rolled onto his back. “Take whatever you want, just
please don’t hurt me.”
“We’ll
see.”

Sunday Excerpt
Funny how real life manages to interfere with my writing and my posting time. This Sunday Excerpt was supposed to happen weekly, but it has turned to bi-monthly or even less. Granted, the last 3 month were easier and now I'm finally, finally, getting my kitchen done, and my place is a mess. But what had threw me the most was a pregnancy and its loss. I was so tired during that those 9 weeks and I slept so much during that time, I barely had time to do anything else. Then I lost the baby and I was still tired and not feeling good. Needless to say, I didn't write during this time. But I will now, because I miss it and I need it back.
I'm not making plans for next year, but I will say this: I will succeed. I will write more, publish more and I will be one or several steps closer to the dream of being a full time writer. In the meanwhile, here is a short excerpt of my current WIP, Dom for hire (working title).

The handle felt heavy in Wes’s
hand. Too heavy. He looked at the tool he had used countless of times before
and not finding anything different about it. Yet, the handle was too hard, too
uncomfortable to his palm. He watched his fingers tightening around it grip like he had
never seen that before. And all the while, the grip remained too loose and
unbalanced.
What was wrong with him? Connor, that
was what it wrong with him.
The sub in front him fidgeted,
reminding him how long he had been standing in silence.

Blog Tour and review - Jingle Spell by Chris Ethan
Synopsis Review: 5 Stars
A very sweet Christmas story. The chemistry between Davey and Avery is clear from the beginning, and I rooted for them the entire time. Davey has a bad relationship track record and nearly swears off men. Until he meets Avery. Freshly moved into town, Avery brings out the best in Davey and gives him back the hope in a lasting relationship. The story is written from Davey's point of view, but Avery's input, especially at certain times, would have made the book even more engrossing.
All through it, I had the feeling that the writing is very personal to the author, like he was putting on paper his own story.
It’s the most horrible time of the year.
Smooches
under mistletoes and tacky reindeer decorations.
Newly
single, Davey has had enough of wasting his love and having his heart broken.
Better to be single, he decides. No more dates. No more falling in love. No
more dreaming of happy ever afters. Those are for movies.
He’s
resolute.
And
then Avery steps into his life, bringing care, compassion, and tenderness in
his path.
Davey’s
so tempted to hope again. But can an online date and a brief encounter turn
into anything other than an ephemeral sexual encounter?
Is
there a future for them? Will Avery stay? And most importantly, can Davey bear
to offer up his heart to the season’s love—just one more time?
