“Settle down, little one. No one is
going to hurt you here.”
His gaze darted to the hallway Chris had
disappeared down, and he let out a low rumble.
I smiled and answered his silent
question. “Not even him. He will come around.” After he’d got
over having a werewolf in the house and came to terms with the idea
that werewolves were real, that was.
“Trust me. Now settle down.” Though
keeping my tone calm, I put as much force as I could muster behind
the words.
I wasn’t a shifter, and the animal had
no reason to obey me. But power was power, no matter where it came
from, and I was praying it would be enough. Otherwise, I was screwed.
The wolf growled, shifting his center of
gravity lower down his back as he prepared to jump.
I was familiar enough with werewolves to
know they reacted to strength and dominance, so I tried again,
putting more of that behind my words. “Enough!”
The growl subsided without dying
completely, and the eyes holding mine became more alert, the anxiety
in them half-replaced by curiosity.
“That’s it. Settle down.”
The wolf whimpered and crouched until
his belly rested on the floor. He regarded me carefully, his upper
lip still curled in a threat. He didn’t trust me. Not yet. The
feeling was mutual.
I wasn’t his alpha, nor did I want to
be, but I needed him calm
and obedient. My heart, which beat loudly when I first faced the
animal, had lowered to a more normal rhythm. Sweat soaked through my
T-shirt, and I was willing to bet money the wolf could smell the fear
on me. I held his gaze, bringing up even more power.
Calm down, damn it!
The wait stretched on; a nerve wrecking
staring contest. I didn’t move, barely breathing. Slowly, the
wolf’s body went slack, the lip uncurling. The pupils shrank back
to normal size, for a wolf anyway, but some of the angst remained.
“That’s it. Good boy.”
One of his ears flicked, head tilting to
the side.
“I need to check how bad you’re
hurt.”
The wolf tried to crawl farther back,
clearly not happy with my suggestion.
“No, I mean it. You’re hurt. I need
to see what is going on.”
The growl was back in his throat.
“Enough!” I used power to put
strength behind the command. “Shift!”
His eyes widened, but the force behind
the words could not be ignored. He tried to fight me, I could see it
on his face, but I kept my gaze and the stream of power steady,
waiting for him to submit.
Eventually, the tension left his body
and he stretched out on the floor. The pupils changed slightly, their
color softening to a warm brown. The fur rippled as the muscles
beneath rearranged themselves. The shoulders widened, the neck
thickened, and the muzzle retracted.
About the
author
Born
in Romania, land of the Iele and Vlad the Impaler, AIMEE BRISSAY has
spent all her life surrounded by stories. She has ridden side by side
with d’Artagnan and The Three Musketeers to retrieve the Queen’s
diamonds, set sail on the Erasmus in search of the Japans, fell in
love with Rhett Butler and roamed the Wild West alongside Old
Shatterhand. She has walked in the footsteps of the Olympian Gods and
searched for Zalmoxis’ sanctuary in the Carpathians. In her mind,
she’s never been the damsel in distress but rather the knight in
shiny armor fighting for a cause. Aimee Brissay loves each and every
one of these characters with a passion, and has always had a soft
spot for the men-on-men fellows.
With a background like this, turning to writing was no surprise. Aimee discovered Men-on-Men erotica early in life and has never looked back. After that first story, she devoured all the books she could find. And when she ran out, she decided to write her own. Aimee Brissay has over 10 stories published, varying from contemporary to fantasy and BDSM, men-on-men, men-on-men-on-men or on-women, and anything in between.
She
can write anywhere, even in a crowded room or a busy subway station,
but she loves solitude. When she’s not at her evil day job or
she’s not torturing her characters in her latest WIP, she can be
found writing or playing with her cats. Or her newly adopted
dog, because 5 cats are just not enough.
She
welcomes messages from readers and promises to answer all of them as
soon as possible, though that can mean anything from one hour to a
month.

Excerpt
“Fucking bastard! Forcing you to repeat their alien laws after having killed your father in front of your mother and his entire family. He has no respect for our pain.” It wasn’t a new litany, but today of all days it grated me more than it usually did.
“Uncle,
why should Michael care when my father clearly didn’t? If he loved
us, if he was worried about what his death would do to Mother, he
would have stopped when she asked him.”
My uncle’s
eyes darkened, his face twisting in an ugly snarl. “Ungrateful
bastard! Your father must be ashamed of you. He did everything for
you!”
“For me?”
I couldn’t stifle the cold laughter so I let it bathe me. “If he
wanted to do something for me, he should have worked harder to put
food on the table and clothes on my back. Mend the land and get the
crops to thrive. How would flying elsewhere help me?”
The strike
came out of nowhere. My uncle was fast for an old man. The sharp pain
spread through my now burning cheek as I struggled to push up from
where I’d fallen. Before I could, my uncle was all over me,
pushing, hitting, and yelling in my face. “Ungrateful little prick!
You should have been stillborn. A shame to your father and our family
name, you are!”
“Let the
boy go,” Michael said in a steady voice. The sound of it made me
feel safe, sending tingles of happiness through my reeling mind. The
pain of the hits subsided and I knew no more of it will come. At
least not today.
“This is
not your business, damned beast. You cannot interfere,” my uncle
said, releasing me enough to twist his upper body and glare at
Michael.
“I am not
required to interfere, true. I choose to,” the flyer said, tilting
his head and smiling coldly at my uncle. “Do you wish to find out
who of us prevails if you challenge me,
mortal?”

Excerpt
“FLYERS!” THE FRIGHTENED voice pierced the air and shot straight to my heart, gripping and squeezing it tightly. My breath hitched and I dropped the tool I was holding.
What we
used to know as angels became Earth’s wardens. Flyers, as they call
themselves, are the universe’s enforcers. They make sure we stay in
our jail and that we obey the rules. We can build anything, do
anything, destroy anything, as long as it is not an attempt to build
new spaceships or weapons that could damage the spherical force field
prison that keeps us locked in here.
“Damn it
all to hell.” The wrench was lodged between the rusty parts of the
old tractor I was trying to repair. Our village’s hope for better
crops, it was, and I’d just gotten something stuck in it. Served me
right for thinking all it took to become a mechanic was an eidetic
memory. I had no other choice though. Most engineers and mechanics
were either hiding, always on the run, or dead. Why they all insisted
on building spaceships and trying to leave Earth was beyond me. We
had other pressing needs, exploring the universe should have been our
last concern.
“Hurry
up, kid. It’s the Punisher.” My uncle gripped my shoulder and
tried to make me move. He needn’t worry, I’d never miss a chance
to see Michael.
Michael,
the archangel of long lost tales of divinity, is the leader of the
squad of flyers that guards us. They have set up camp on Saturn and
use their all-seeing eyes to monitor our every move. Everyone hates
the flyers, more so Michael. Most don’t even remember his name,
he’s just referred to as the Punisher. Whenever someone does
something against the rules enforced upon us, Michael and his angel
guards come down to Earth and exert punishment. It’s always very
public, broadcast to the furthest corners still inhabited. He comes,
he crushes, he leaves. Each time, people add to their hate for
him.

Blog Tour and review: Touches by Alina Popescu
Touches
is a collection of four contemporary gay romance short stories
following the same cast of characters. They can be read in any order,
but to better immerse yourself in the characters’ lives, reading
them in order is advised.
Synopsis
Sometimes a
single touch is enough to change everything. Physical or emotional, a
touch can tilt the world on its axis and shift your entire life. It
can lead to hell, or it can lead to paradise, but things will never
be the same…
A TOUCH OF GLAMOUR
Tudor has big plans
for New York City.
Ditch his homophobic
colleague. See a musical. Definitely check out the go-go boys.
Meeting one Phantom
on Grindr wasn’t in the script.
Tudor gets caught up
in a whirlwind when his favorite musical character steps off the
stage and into his life.
A TOUCH OF
PARADISE
Hauled to work in
Hawaii, Tudor has little time to enjoy the island paradise.
His obnoxious friend
Radu has it much easier, using his free time to set Tudor up,
dangling a willing Hawaiian beauty in front of him.
Having been burned
by long-distance relationships before, Tudor stubbornly resists
Kahoni’s advances.
But can Tudor be
worn down enough to enjoy a touch of paradise?
A TOUCH OF
KINK
A moody and angry
Tudor follows his friend, Radu, to the airport to pick up a
client.
Despite Radu’s
efforts, he’s still sulking over his boyfriend, Kahoni, not being
able to fly over for his birthday.
But the airport only
opens up the door to a stream of steamy surprises for Tudor. Will his
mood improve?
A TOUCH OF
GAY
Radu has always
joked with Tudor about his friend’s gay rubbing off on him. Neither
of them has taken that joke seriously until Radu’s meltdown and
crazy confession: Radu thinks he might be gay.
Despite Radu’s
insistence that Tudor’s gayness has helped him figure out his own,
there’s more to that story of discovery. Charismatic, sexy, and all
around amazing Marius, the man Radu has been crushing on for months,
pushed the loud-mouth, offensive Radu into exploring who he truly
is.
Figuring out he
wasn’t all that straight is the easy part. Getting enough courage
to talk to Marius, that’s a whole different challenge, as Radu
seems to turn into a stuttering idiot around Marius. Will Radu learn
to be confident enough to pursue Marius? Or will Marius act faster
and challenge the confused Radu too soon?
Review: 5
stars
Touches is a
collection of 4 quick, easy short stories centered around the
friendship between Tudor and Radu. The first story, A Touch of
Glamour, is a bit heavier than the rest of them, and marks the
beginning of the friendship between them. While the collection
revolves around Tudor, Radu is the real star. He starts off as a jerk
and a homophobe, but he grows into a true friend. By the third story,
I got to love him, and on the forth..let’s just say, this is my
favorite story of them all.
Touches is a
sweet collection that made me long for a vacation with sandy beaches,
blue water and Mai-tais. Perfect read for the incoming summer.
